Since childhood Ami Ray always wanted to be a Fine Artist but had a side of
creative mind towards business and commercial art. He made his living by being a
graphic designer. After retiring with 27 years of professional services as a senior computer graphic designer in advtg. Design and marketing dept. of Stop & Shop Supermarket Co.'s headquarter in Quincy Ray established his own “Creative Kanvas” in 2002. Prior to joining Stop & Shop, Ray worked as an Art Director for a small Exhibit Design Co. in Boston and freelanced for a number of well-known ad agencies, design and printing companies mostly around down town area. Now he devotes his major time towards fine and creative arts. Ray believes that high tech and digital media can be applied effectively on traditional fine arts and experiments from time to time.
At present Ray has family membership along with his son Artist Paul Ray for Braintree Art Assoc., North River Arts Society, and Hull Artists. He attends monthly meetings, demo, art exhibitions, member shows, seasonal Art Sales and spends remaining time for art marketing. He got a few awards from the local Art associations in the past. He sold large water color paintings thru Maria Bay and Quincy Artfest and Hull artists Studio tours. He has experience in oil, acrylic, pastel and mixed media and recently concentrated in traditional wash & tempera techniques. In 2001 Ray organized the entire Art Exhibition as a chairperson for The Annual International Conference held at Paul Tsongas Arena, Lowell Mass.
