Teresa's Studio 50 happened when I left the corporate world and began my dream job of being an artist. Coming from a creative family, it's hard to find your niche in the artistic world. For me, it was like choosing a favorite color! With so many colors in the world, it became hard to choose. So I went back to my roots. I had learned to knit and crochet at a young age from my mother who had taught me the very basics. But I was never happy with just the basics, so I started experimenting with different classes and mediums. It was a long journey but I made many new friends along the way.
Then one day, I had seen a beading technique being done on TV that just seemed to make sense. I bought a DVD and watched it over and over until I could crochet with beads. Then the experimentation kicked in with the development of my own patterns and designs. Now, I combine my love for colors, textures and techniques with my love of knitting and crochet to create my jewelry. I'm inspired by these "visions" I get when looking at a particular bead, stone or charm and see the possibilities. I love the challenge of mixing unobvious combinations and making them "fit". If it can't be knitted or crocheted, then it gets wrapped in gold filled or sterling silver wire.
While I may be new to the Hull Artists Studio Connection, I feel at home among this family of talented artists. I love my family & friends, and I love my home in Hingham. But most of all, I love being creative!
